During winter break, the family and I made a trek to MASS MoCA. We booked a one night hotel stay close by before continuing on to Albany, NY.
This museum…art compound…is simply stunning. There are so many rooms to get lost in and so much inspiring contemporary art. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
A few exhibits that sparked some wonder for me:
Jeffrey Gibson’s POWER FULL BECAUSE WE’RE DIFFERENT is an immersive installation.
Louise Bourgeois‘ sculptures – apparently, the gallery where her work is shown was constructed to accommodate one of her pieces which weighs in at 15 tons.
and Amy Podmore‘s Audience exhibit featuring a wall of whimsical and borderline creepy basket creatures with their eyes opening and closing. The mechanical sounds added to the experience.
But, my favorite was by far the community art project in the kids’ room. F happily added a line.
