Beach Reading

When I first saw that Rick Rubin clip, I thought he was out of his mind. But, as I skimmed this book at the local bookstore, the things he said resonated with me. So, I bought it and it’s just helping me to get outside of my head…outside of my own way.

These past few days in Newburyport have been much needed – staring out into the ocean and listening to just the waves & wind is…everything.

Thanks to the husband for finding this lovely bookstore called Jabberwocky Books in Newburyport ❤️

“Hellishly Ever After” by Nadine Mutas

Hellishly Ever After by Nadine Mutas is SO good! If you love banter and chemistry, then this book is for you.

The humor + sarcasm made hell a lot of fun. And the steam? Yes, please and thank you Nadine Mutas for your service.

I proceeded to purchase and download all her other books to tide me over until book two releases.

“Love on the Brain” by Ali Hazelwood

Did I stay up late last night finishing Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood even though I had to get up ass early for the kiddo’s doctor’s appointment? Pretty much. Do I regret it? No.

All books by Ali Hazelwood are worth it!

I love the characters she creates; love getting a glimpse into some science/NASA; and, I especially love her writing.

The lettering on romance covers dances with bouncy baselines, flirts with right alignment, and tantalizes with enjambment-style line breaks; all faux pas under the academic standards of design, but powerful at eliciting an emotional response. Type is often large-scale and boldly colored, calling out to be touched. But this emphasis on typography shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, letters serve a not dissimilar purpose to both graphic designers and writers—like clay to a sculptor, they’re the raw material waiting to be molded into art.

“Hidden Legacy” series by Ilona Andrews

I’ve just discovered urban fantasy romance with The Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews and I am obsessed – obsessed.

There’s magic, action, amazing chemistry, and strong female leads.

But this line from Rogan from White Hot made me melt.

I am currently reading Diamond Fire.
